A $60 million upgrade on Oahu's north shore keeps golfers from island hoping
By SCOTT GUMMER

Neither course at Turtle Bay has a postcard hole that plays along the Pacific like Mauna Kea, Mauna Lani or Manele Bay, but teeing off through a gauntlet of ironwoods at the 452-yard 17th and staring down an approach backed by the light blue sky and deep blue ocean, you'd swear you were anywhere but here--just as Turtle Bay promised.

Giovanni's Original White Shrimp Truck
  •  Three miles east of Turtle Bay along Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku is a graffiti-scrawled truck that serves up absurdly tasty fresh shrimp. Choose from Garlic Scampi, Hot & Spicy or Lemon & Butter, each $11 for 1/4 pound of shrimp and two scoops of rice. Half-plates are $6. Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m; 808-293-1839.
