Senior Writer, GOLF MAGAZINE Monty seemed almost sunny in mid-July, when he spoke at the European Golf Writers dinner two days before the British Open.He joked that he would be a good captain's pick for Bernhard Langer's Ryder Cup team because he'd need "only one seat" on the plane -- a reference to his newly single status. He turned to his friend Prince Andrew, captain of the R&A and himself a divorcE, and crowed over his own No. 23 ranking on a recent most-eligible-bachelors list. "And what are you again?" Montgomerie teased His Royal Highness.
