Question: I'm 67 years old and have been playing golf most of my life. I have lost a lot of yards off my drive and my back hurts all the time. Is it too late to start exercising to improve my golf game? I'm no spring chicken, but still have some good years left in me.
I appreciate your response.

Answer: This is a valid question that I'm sure a lot of senior golfers are asking themselves. Unfortunately with the aging process, there is a decrease in the range of motion, strength, endurance and concentration, among other things.
However, if you start exercising (based on your current level of fitness and activity level) you can dramatically improve. I have worked with people in their 70s who have increased their range of motion 200 percent! One person was able to drive the ball 80 yards farther. He was thrilled, to say the least.
Senior golfers can actually see the biggest improvements based on the fact the their starting point is usually quite low. So if you are still trying to enjoy golf but noticed your performance has dropped, along with your physical capabilities, then starting an exercise program could be the key to getting you back on track.
There are thousands of senior golfers jumping on the golf fitness bandwagon and they are seeing the results they hoped for. But before you start a program, consult with your doctor and then pursue a fitness professional. They can give you the direction you need to succeed.
